Sanford police arrested two people Sunday after an armed robbery at the Subway restaurant on Spring Lane.

According to police, officers responded to the store around 8:15 p.m. after a report that a man with a bandana over his face entered, pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded money from the register. After the employee complied, the suspect fled on foot.

Responding officers saw the suspect running away from the scene toward Spring Lane Cinemas and chased him on foot. He was captured without incident.

The suspect, Rywan Harper, 34, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Another suspect, 37-year-old Elana Grace Smith, was charged with accessory after the fact. Police didn’t provide details about the circumstances of her arrest or involvement with the robbery.

Harper was jailed on $100,000 secured bond; Smith was jailed on $40,000 secured bond.
