UPDATE (11:25 a.m.): Chief Deputy William Sturkie of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Calvin Richard Lester Jr. of Carthage.
Sturkie said Lester suffered a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. Deputies are looking for a dark, possibly black, four door Toyota Camry with front end damage as well as an unidentified Black man who was driving the car.
“The incident that occurred today does not involve employees or owners of the Grill,” Sturkie said. “It is believed that the victim worked at a nearby manufacturing facility. The business was not open at the time of this incident.”
ORIGINAL STORY: A person was killed outside Fat Junior’s Grill on Womack Road Tuesday morning, multiple sources have told The Rant.
Lee County Sheriff Brian Estes confirmed the victim was shot and said further details would be forthcoming in a press release.
Additionally, WRAL is reporting the as-yet unidentified body was found around 7:30 a.m. in the restaurant’s parking lot. As of 9:30 a.m., a heavy law enforcement presence was still on the scene.
Fat Junior’s Grill is located at 4900 Womack Road across from the entrances to the GKN Driveline and Caterpillar facilities. The business posted about the incident on Facebook Tuesday morning.
Why, why is this happening?!!!
We as a society need to stop this nonsense!!
Life is to short to begin with , and this unfortunate event is not the answer for anything or anyone!!!!
When are we gonna say enough is enough to this selfish behavior….
God bless this family , with their terrible, terrible loss…
No one wins in this…. 🙏🏻😢🙏🏻
I totally agree ! What has happened to our world that people feel the answer to everything is violence ?
Ruthless and completely uncalled for. Too close to home. People need to learn how to settle their differences without a weapon. You are a coward if you need to shoot someone for any reason. Shows you cannot fight with your bare hands. Have fun in prison without a weapon and RIP to this poor young man trying to make a living for his family.
Unfortunately as an employee of Caterpillar this is not the first incident that has happened with Caterpillar employees or near or on Caterpillar property. However it is the first incident one of many in the last few months that has made it outside the gate. Caterpillar is like the government they tend to keep stuff under the radar. However this incident happened because two men were donging the same individual and that’s the sad part of it. Keep You Dong In Your Pants and you’ll be safe.
Caterpillar has pretty much been a Peyton Place since they came to town in the 1990’s. To clarify it is just a select few that engage in these activities that cause problems for everyone else. Legally there is really not much Caterpillar can do about it.
They had a swinger’s group that met at a local steak house. It was a bigger problem then, because it involved EMT’s, police and hospital staff.
There were instances from 1998-2002 where a CAT employee would go to a tryst participant’s home and there would be a shooting. Nothing ever happened on site. To my knowledge no one was killed. This is the first shooting I’ve heard of since.
Let’s see if Caterpillar will get a handle on it this time. Time for a culture change there.
It happens in almost every work place, you just don’t hear about til something like this happens
