The Sanford Spinners beat the Sandhills Bogeys 9-4 Thursday night to to start a three game winning streak and move into a first place tie in the collegiate level Old North State League’s Central Division.

The game at Tramway Park adjacent to Southern Lee High School is the second of six matchups this year between the Spinners and the Bogeys, who won the Old North State League’s title in 2022. The Bogeys (6-3) won the last matchup with the Spinners on June 3. The Spinners are now 5-2.

Winning pitcher Jacob Cabaniss went five innings, giving up one earned run on five hits. Outfielder De’Yon Cannon had a three RBI double and catcher Coleman McGinnis had two RBI on two hits. First baseman Kanyon Gagich, third baseman Kaden Sigmon and outfielder Noah Kessler each added an RBI.

The Spinners are off Friday before a weekend on the road against the Oak City Gliders in Raleigh on Saturday and the Reidsville Luckies on Sunday.

The Spinners are at home most of next week, with games against the High Point Hushpuppies at 7 p.m. Monday, the Hendersonville Honeycrisps at 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Carolina Ducks at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the Gliders again Thursday at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for general admission and $4 for kids, and can be purchased through the team’s website or on gameday.
