A 15-year-old Sanford boy was arrested Friday night for the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy.
According to Sanford Police, a call was placed just before 9 p.m. Friday night in the 300 block of McIver Street just blocks from downtown Sanford. When police arrived, they found the young victim on a couch on the front porch of the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot to his head.
Shortly after, detectives obtained a secure custody order — required to assume custody of a juvenile — and arrested the 15-year-old, charging him with murder and possession of a firearm by a minor.
Names in the case have been withheld by Sanford Police. The 15-year-old was taken to a facility in Cumberland County pending his appearance in juvenile court.

Why aren’t there charges against the owner of the weapon for failure to securely lock it up? Who in hell is stupid enough to allow access to it for any purpose, since they obviously have a violent kid out of control where anger is concerned!
You are assuming the gun was obtained from a family member and not gotten on the streets illegally. This information is not mentioned in the article, so we can’t make that assumption. However, if you are correct, I firmly agree with you. Additionally, I am Lifetime member of the NRA and I firmly agree that adults that own firearms and they don’t secure the weapons should be legally responsible for any crimes committed with those weapons unless they had been stolen and reported and were not under the control of the original gun owner.
