Early voting in the 2023 municipal elections for Sanford and Broadway opened last week, and runs through Nov. 4.
Voters can cast early ballots at the Lee County Board of Elections office, 1503 Elm St. in Sanford. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Early voting is also available from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 29 and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 4. Election Day is Nov. 7.
None of the races on this year’s ballot are contested.
For the Sanford City Council, the Ward 2 seat (incumbent Republican Charles Taylor), the Ward 4 seat (incumbent Democrat Byron Buckels), the Ward 5 seat (incumbent Democrat Jean Dabbs) and an at large seat (Democrat Walter Ferguson is running unopposed) are available. On the Broadway Town Board, two at large seats held by Lynne West Green and Teresa Dew Kelly and the mayor’s seat occupied by Donald Andrews are on the ballot.
