The municipal elections for Sanford and Broadway produced no surprises, as each uncontested candidate easily won victory on Tuesday.

Incumbent members of the Sanford City Council who were on the ballot all prevailed with more than 90 percent of the vote. Republican Charles Taylor of Ward 2 received 342 votes to 37 write ins (90.24 percent), Democrat Byron Buckels of Ward 4 received 224 votes to seven write ins (96.97 percent), Democrat Jean Dabbs of Ward 5 received 117 votes to six write ins (95.12 percent) and at large Democratic candidate Walter Ferguson received 755 votes to 76 write ins (90.85 percent). Ferguson is the only new addition to the council this cycle. He will replace Democrat Jimmy Haire, who did not seek re-election.

In Broadway, incumbent Mayor Donald Andrews received 112 votes to two write ins (98.25 percent), while incumbent town board members Lynn West Green and Teresa Dew Kelly each won re-election with 109 and 94 votes, respectively. There was one write in vote for the Broadway Town Board.
