Sanford police charged a teacher at Lee Christian School on Wednesday with sex crimes against a student.
57-year-old Daniel Jeremy Abraham of Falling Water Road in Spring Lake is charged with one felony count of indecent liberties with a student and a misdemeanor count of sexual battery.
The circumstances of the case aren’t totally clear, but WNCN news reports that police first received a tip about “misconduct” at the school on Nov. 8. Court records indicate that Abraham was indicted on Monday and charged on Wednesday.
He was initially placed in the Lee County Jail without bond, but after a hearing on Thursday, bond was set at $5,000 with the condition that Abraham is not allowed to have contact with the victim or be allowed in the presence of any minor child “unless in the sanctuary of church service.” As of Friday, he no longer shows as a current inmate on the Lee County Jail’s website.
I was a student at lee Christian up to 2011, and this is no shock. Teachers flirting with students and being too involved in their personal lives has been an ongoing issue since I was in elementary school. Ive seen a man rage quit his job because the old principal wouldnt let him coach girls volleyball, and an old baskettball coach is publicly dating a girl he used to coach in middle school. Grooming, and developing unprofessional personal relationships with kids is all too normal for staff in Lee Countys private schools. It is the stuff of nightmares. The idea that parents are giving their children a safe environment and “a christian education” is a bad joke. You’re just putting them in a room to be indoctrinated by a cult of racist pedophiles.
Thank you for speaking out.
If you think about it no one should be surprised that pedophiles target christian schools.
