Following a sparse holiday schedule, the Sanford Spinners are back at home for three consecutive games beginning Thursday night, including a makeup game for a matchup that was canceled this week due to rain.
The Spinners were last at home on July 2, when they fell 4-2 to the Sandhills (Pinehurst) Bogeys. Since then, the Spinners won a road game against the Jacksonville Ospreys 9-8 on July 3 and had to reschedule a contest against the Hope Mills Rockfish which was rained out on July 6.
The Spinners face the Brunswick (Southport) Surfin’ Turfs 7 p.m. Thursday at Tramway Park adjacent to Southern Lee High School before a double header Friday against Hope Mills. Friday’s games will be played at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Spinners are 6-7 in the summer collegiate level Old North State League’s Southeastern Division, good for fourth place. But 10 of the team’s 11 remaining games are against division rivals, leaving room for the possibility of a shift in the standings. The team’s overall record stands at 10-8.
