Surveillance video shows a truck slamming into two businesses in the Jonesboro Heights area of Sanford Sunday morning.
The video, sent by Terri Munday, owner of the first business located at 90 Misha Lane, shows a red double cab pickup truck drive slowly by the jewelry store (28 second mark on video), located at 2801 Lee Avenue, just before 11 a.m. on Sunday. Moments later, the truck slowly rolls over a stop sign and stopping in a nearby parking lot. The sped up video then jumps to the moment the driver hits reverse (1:45 mark), crosses both lanes of Lee Avenue and runs into Munday’s business (2:03 mark).
The driver of the truck then accelerates forward, crosses Lee Avenue and hops a ditch before crashing into Balou’s Jewelry Store, coming to a stop when it hits a display counter near the business’ entrance (2:30 mark).
According to reports, the driver, 83-year-old Ronald Czarnecki of Sanford, was having “some kind of medical episode” while driving, causing the crashes. Czarnecki was taken to Central Carolina Hospital, and his condition has not been made public. No one else was injured in the crash.
