Sanford and Broadway have elections in 2025, and filing for the available seats opens in July.
Voters in Sanford will choose a mayor and three members the City Council in November, while voters in Broadway will choose three members of the Town Board.
Sanford elections are run on a partisan basis. Citywide, Democratic Mayor Rebecca Wyhof Salmon and at-large council member Linda Rhodes are each up for a second term; both were first elected in 2022. The council’s Ward 1 seat (much of west Sanford and portions of the Tramway area west of U.S. 1), currently held by Democrat Mark Akinosho, and the Ward 3 seat (much of east Sanford) currently held by Democrat J.D. Williams, are also both on the ballot. Click here for a city ward map.
In Broadway, the elections are nonpartisan. Three at large seats on the Town Board, currently held by Tommy Beal, April Collins, and Jim Paschal, will be on the ballot. Voters can select up to three candidates in that race. The Rant will share news about individual candidacies as it becomes public.
The filing period opens at 8 a.m. on July 7 at the Lee County Board of Elections, 1503 Elm St., and runs through noon on July 18.
If a primary is necessary in any of the races, it will be held September 9. If a second primary is necessary, it will be held October 7. The General Election will be held on November 4.
