Voters will decide the Democratic primary for the Ward 3 seat on Sanford’s City Council on Tuesday.

Early voting in the primary race ended on September 6, with just 73 ballots cast. The winner of the primary race between newcomer Christopher Petty and J.D. Williams (the council’s longest-serving member) won’t face any Republican opposition in the fall.

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the following locations:

*J. Glenn Edwards Elementary, 3115 Cemetery Road

*B.T. Bullock Elementary, 1410 McNeill Road

*East Lee Middle School, 1337 Broadway Road

The general election for municipal races in Sanford and Broadway will be held in November. There will be one contested race for each municipality.
