A teenager was shot and killed early Wednesday morning at the Oaks apartment complex off Amos Bridges Road, Sanford police said.
Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to Oak Branch Lane after getting reports of a shooting and vehicle collision. On arrival, the discovered a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound. A statement from SPD says officers discovered the shooting victim accelerated his vehicle after he was shot and struck several unoccupied vehicles, including a Lee County Sheriff’s Office patrol car.
The teenager died while in transit by emergency medical personnel.
