The former Harnett County woman accused – with her newlywed husband – of killing a man they met through Craigslist in Pennsylvania last year admitted to the murder and more than 20 other murders across the country, WRAL reported this morning.
Miranda Barbour, 19, and her husband Elytte, 22 (a graduate of Triton High School and former Central Carolina Community College student) were charged in November for murder in Pennsylvania after allegedly luring a man to his death with a Craigslist ad because they wanted to kill someone together. The charge came just months after the couple moved to Pennsylvania from Dunn, N.C., where Miranda worked as a cashier for a local grocery store.
According to WRAL, Miranda said she wants to plead guilty to the Pennsylvania killing – where she allegedly stabbed Troy LaFerrara more than 20 times in the front seat of a car while her husband choked him with a rope from the backseat – plus at least 22 other murders from Alaska to North Carolina in the last six years “as part of her involvement in a Satanic cult.”
The New York Post reported in December that the couple hung around the scene of the crime in Pennsylvania to watch police work the scene. The Post story goes into detail about the couple’s sex life as well, reporting that Miranda “loved sex and was so kinky that she once touched some hot wax and began to moan like she was having an orgasm.” She also “hated fat people with a fiery passion.” Laferrera reportedly weighed more than 275 pounds.
