Sanford native Stephen Brewer, who moved to California in recent years to pursue a career in music, has made his recording debut with Los Angeles-based heavy metal band Westfield Massacre, the Rant has learned.

Westfield Massacre’s self titled first album debuted Friday at number three on the iTunes metal charts, according to a post on the band’s Facebook account. It follows the release of a video for the single, “Build Your Thrones” (WARNING: the video is absolutely, positively NOT SAFE FOR WORK, but Brewer fires off some totally ripping guitar solos) back in March.

The music is less what everyone’s grandparents would have called “nice music for the nice people” and more what you might expect from a guy who was once in another band that was named Snot. There’s probably something for everyone though, as the band’s page at label Urban Yeti Records describes their songs as “orchestra-infused modern heavy metal” and claims influences ranging from Iron Maiden to Mozart. We here at Rant HQ wish Brewer the very best of luck going forward.

The band is currently on tour.
