Story and photos by Billy Liggett |

My wife is director of Downtown Sanford Inc. So I’m biased. I want to see Downtown Sanford thrive, and I want events like Function at the Junction to do well. I’d feel this way regardless of my marital status.

There have been two Functions this summer (should be three, but the first was rained out), and both have attracted crowds topping 200 people. Depot Park can hold up to 500 comfortably. This event should attract 500 people.

So if you haven’t been, below is the remaining schedule for the summer (Thursdays, 6 p.m., Depot Park, FREE), plus a photo gallery from last night of Wilmington’s Mac & Juice Quartet. Those who missed last night missed a guitar clinic.

A food truck and snow cone truck are part of it now (both take credit cards), and Karma is selling coffee. Beer may or may not be in the future (you can always bring your own).
