Sanford Mayor Chet Mann appeared on this week’s episode of Municipal Equation, a weekly podcast from the North Carolina League of Municipalities.
“Really the first form of art that came to Sanford was pottery,” Mann is heard saying to podcast host Ben Brown after the introduction to the episode, which was released Tuesday and discusses the concept of sister cities. “We are now sister cities with Yixing, China, and they celebrate pottery as well.”
Sanford became a sister city to Yixing in 2014 (subscription required). While Sanford isn’t the only North Carolina municipality featured in the episode, it does explore the various economic, cultural and social benefits which come from participating in the program, as well as the history behind it.
At the end of the episode, Brown indicates the Sanford could be an even bigger part of next week’s entry. Last week, Mann said via his Facebook page that he gave Brown a walking tour of downtown Sanford’s mural trail. Listen to the entire podcast, which lasts about 30 minutes, below:
