Sanford police on Tuesday charged Felipe Lopez Delacruz in connection with reports from September about a suspicious man lurking near area school bus stops and attempting to lure students into his vehicle.

Delacruz, 32, is also the suspect in a similar case in nearby Cary. Police there charged him Friday with multiple counts of taking indecent liberties with a child after two Cary High School students reported that he touched students at bus stops inappropriately on Oct. 2 and Oct. 11.

The Rant reported earlier Tuesday that police in Sanford were investigating whether Delacruz, who lives in Sanford, was also connected to the cases here.

According to a news release from the Sanford Police Department, Delacruz was served at the Wake County Jail with warrants for multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor indecent exposure and indecent liberties with a child. Delacruz remains in custody under a $930,000 secured bond.
