Initial forecasts of Wednesday’s snow/cyclone in North Carolina had the brunt of the storm’s snowfall falling to the east of I-95, pummeling Wilmington and the Outer Banks.

That still may happen, but Sanford — which was supposed to receive anywhere from no snow to trace amounts — got a nice little storm starting around 5 p.m. (and still falling two three four hours later as of this post).

Because of the record cold temperatures — which will stick around at least through the weekend — the snow is already crippling the roads in Lee County. The white stuff and the ice underneath it will be around a while.
