The naysayers were wrong! The weathermen were right! We actually got snow. A lot of snow, at least by central North Carolina standards.
The National Weather Service estimates that the sliver of the state along U.S. 1 from Sanford to Southern Pines got 4-6 inches of the white stuff — among the most in the state. The storm has subsided, but with forecasted temperatures below freezing through Sunday, it’s likely to hang around for a while.
The Lee County Emergency Services suggests that you stay at home today if possible. Roads are being cleared, but it’s going to take a while.
Which means you have an excuse to play in the snow! Send us your pics by commenting on our Facebook post. We’ll include them in the gallery.
And above all else, stay safe! Tragedy has already struck in nearby Moore County.

Saw today that the lake @ Carolina Trace was frozen and snow covered. Did anyone get pics of that? I haven’t seen that happen in 20 years.
