Lee County football coach Burton Cates resigns

Lee County High School football coach Burton Cates resigned on Wednesday, according to reports from the Lee County High School Booster Club on Twitter.

Cates won a state championship at Eastern Randolph (where they named a stadium for him) before coming to Sanford nine seasons ago, and he amassed a 24-3 record with the Jackets over the last two seasons.
