Charges against man who was arrested for threatening law enforcement officers during a February 2019 raid at Bear Creek Arsenal in Sanford by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been dismissed by the Lee County District Attorney’s Office, The Rant has learned.
A charge of communicating threats against Christian Caneles was dismissed on Monday in Lee County District Court. District Court Judge Joy Jones was presiding.
In a Facebook Live video taken during the 2019 raid, Caneles could be heard telling deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office – who were apparently providing support to the federal agents – that they “need a (expletive) bullet proof vest, cause if I had my (expletive) gun, I’d shoot both of you (expletive) down.”
It’s unclear what circumstances led to the dismissal of the charge. Caneles on Monday pleaded guilty to a driving while license revoked charge that stemmed from the same incident.
