An eighth Lee County resident has died from COVID-19 complications, the county health department reported this morning, making four deaths in the past 10 days. The news comes on the heels of the state health department reporting 70 new cases in the county in a single day on Saturday.
Heading into today, Lee County is at 698 confirmed cases. Approximately 485 of those people have officially recovered, eight have died, and 205 people are being monitored or are currently hospitalized.
The county released no information about the eighth victim on Monday. It continues to urge residents to wear face masks in public, watch their distance around others and wash their hands thoroughly.
Another free drive-thru test event will be held Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center (1801 Nash Street). People can pre-register by calling (919) 542-4991.
