Lee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after a vehicle chase Tuesday night.

Justin Makario Jackson, 22, of Sanford faces charges of felony speeding to elude arrest, failing to stop for blue lights and siren, careless and reckless driving, driving left of center, resisting officers, and possession of marijuana.

Deputies first attempted to stop Jackson on South Plank Road after reportedly hearing gunshots coming from his vehicle. The chase led into Chatham County, where Jackson is reported to have left his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Capt. Jeff Johnson of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said no gun was located in Jackson’s vehicle, but deputies did find spent shell casings.

Jackson was placed in the Lee County Jail under $20,000 secured bond. marijuana. He was held under $20,000 secured bond.
