In an explosive offensive showing, the Sanford Spinners topped the Deep River Mud Dogs Wednesday night, snapping a five game losing streak and bringing their overall record to 6-10.
Centerfielder Mikey Scott was at the heart of the offense, driving in five of the team’s 14 runs with two doubles and a home run. Head Coach Jeremy Palme said there was an “obviously rocky start,” with eight runs for the Mud Dogs in the first two innings.
“But the pitching settled down and did a really good job over the last six innings,” he said.
The win follows a set of losses on Tuesday against the Swepsonville Sweepers in which the Spinners were outscored 15-0.
The Spinners play a double header against the Oak City Gliders in Raleigh on Thursday (July 1). After that, there’s a weeklong break before another doubleheader in Fayetteville against the Chutes.
The Spinners are at home again next on July 14 for a doubleheader against Swepsonville. For the full schedule, click here.
