Lee County sheriff’s deputies have charged a student with bringing a gun to the Central Carolina Academy charter school in Sanford.
The name of the student was not released due to their status as a juvenile. According to deputies, they were notified about the situation Wednesday and, along with school staff, located the firearm in a student’s book bag.
Deputies later determined that the gun had been reported stolen from Harnett County. The student faces juvenile petitions for possession of a weapon on a school campus, possession of stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, and communicating threats.
The student was taken into custody, but further details about the case were not disclosed Thursday.
