
Six people were charged on New Year’s Day in connection with an alleged plot to smuggle drugs into the Lee County Jail.
A press release from Sheriff Brian Estes indicates that deputies learned the suspects were planning to smuggle marijuana, suboxone, K2 (a synthetic cannabinoid), and tobacco into the jail for distribution.
Charged were Estefani Granado Canales, 19, Mekhia Amil Harrington, 18, Marco Sanchez, 18, Victor Mauricio Lopez, 19, Jonel Shamar Headen, 19, and Robert Bernard Fox, 20.
Fox and Headen were already in custody of the Lee County Jail on assault charges from April 2022, and now each face additional charges of conspiring to deliver marijuana, possessing a controlled substance on jail premises, and possession of drug paraphernalia (Headen), and possession of a controlled substance on jail premises (Fox). Fox’s bond was increased by $5,000; Headen’s was increased by $25,000.
Canales was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, two counts of providing contraband to an inmate, maintaining a vehicle for the sale and delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of conspiracy to deliver marijuana, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed on $60,000 secured bond.
Harrington was charged with possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, providing contraband to an inmate, conspiracy to deliver marijuana, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed on $30,000 secured bond.
Sanchez was charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, providing contraband to an inmate, conspiracy to deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed on $20,000 secured bond.
Lopez was charged with two counts of conspiracy to deliver marijuana. He was jailed on $7,500 secured bond.
