Sanford has awarded the contract for the new construction of Sanford Fire Station Number 5 to Carolina Commercial Contractors, who began work on the project Monday. With many new housing developments under construction, this new fire station on Colon Road will provide essential city resources and improved response times to Sanford’s growing population.
Fire Station Number 5 will be 12,000 square feet and include two apparatus bays, a kitchen and dining area, bunkrooms, exercise space, offices, laundry and more. The one-story facility is designed for construction of a third bay in the future.
“Station Number 5 illustrates Sanford’s commitment to its community by investing in public service enhancements, and Carolina Commercial Contractors is excited to be a part of this essential piece of our community’s future,” said Carolina Commercial Senior Project Manager Dave Richardson.
Although the station will be called Station Number 5, it is actually the fourth city-owned fire station. One of the county’s volunteer fire stations is already designated Station Number Four for mutual aid purposes. Station Number 1 is located at the intersection of Weatherspoon Street and Hawkins Avenue, while station Number Two is on Woodland Avenue. Station Number Three is located at Cool Springs and Carbonton roads.

So their senior project manager (Dave Richardson) is a guy who didn’t even graduate from high school? Great choice CCC. I’m sure this project will go great.
This is simply a mean-spirited comment.
I have no clue who you are, nor do I know Dave very well. Perhaps if more people were to make something of themselves, regardless of their past, and build things rather than sit cowardly behind an alias and troll people, our world might be better.
I hope that your future is better, and more positive, than your recent comment.
Some of the most intelligent and successful businessmen I know did not graduate from high school. Measuring a person’s merit and capability by their past shows your ignorance and jealousy of that person’s success. I’m sure the new fire department project will go as planned with success and be a needed addition to the city’s resources with Mr. Richardson heading the project proudly.
I have worked with Dave Richardson on many projects over the years and he is a very smart and capable person. I am saddened to see such disparaging remarks made about very fine human being. Try practicing kindness!
Best hire I ever made was only a HS grad. This in a very high tech group with others having Masters degrees. It isn’t the letters after your name that enables you to do things.
I will just leave this right here for those that think being a High School graduate dictates your intelligence and capabilities.
