A Rant story published Friday about the winning construction bid for Lee County’s new Multi-Sports Complex apparently gave some the impression that the project will only include fields for soccer.

The base bid from Sanford Contractors of $26,817,160, approved by the Lee County Board of Commissioners last week, does include four baseball diamonds, one of which could be used by the Sanford Spinners. The items removed from the original plans in an effort to control costs were “championship” fields for soccer and baseball.
