After starting the 2024 season of the collegiate level Old North State League with three consecutive wins, the Sanford Spinners lost three games over the weekend, moving their overall record to 3-3.

For Friday’s home opener against the Sandhills (Pinehurst) Bogeys, the Spinners fell 4-3 in extra innings, with pitcher Coleman Mcginnis credited for the loss.

On Saturday, the Spinners lost a home game at Tramway Park adjacent to Southern Lee High School 8-6 to the Hope Mills Rockfish. Pitcher Nate Galloway was credited with the loss.

On Sunday, the Spinners traveled to Southport for a game against the Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs, which they lost 13-3.

Although the Spinners’ overall record is 3-3, the consecutive losses move them to 1-3 within division play, good for fourth place out of five teams. The team gets a break for Monday and Tuesday, and then will travel to Hope Mills for a rematch with the Rockfish on Wednesday.

The Spinners are back home at Tramway Park on Thursday (7 p.m.) to host the Surfin’ Turfs, and on Saturday (7 p.m.) against the Jacksonville Ospreys. All of this week’s games are against Southeastern Division rivals.
