A 19-year-old Lee County man has been charged with murder after a shooting that left another 19 year old dead and another person injured.
Lee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of multiple gunshot victims in the 1500 block of Poplar Springs Church Road around 5:45 p.m. Friday. At the scene, 19-year-old Erik Peredes Maravilla was found dead. Another victim, whom deputies did not identify, was wounded and flown to a nearby trauma center.
Deputies identified Stephen Alexander Buruca-Romero, 19, of 1240 St. Andrews Church Road as the suspect and charged him with a single count of murder. According to authorities, additional charges and arrests are pending as the investigation continues.
Buruca-Romero was placed in the Lee County Jail without bond.
