Raleigh-based real estate and investment group CBRE announced today it has begun marketing the 32 acres of retail and commercial space along South Horner Boulevard in Sanford that will serve as the entrance Ashby Village, the 140-acre master planned community between Lowe’s Home Improvement and the new Lee County Athletic Park.
The commercial development will house 125,000 square feet of new restaurants, retailers and medical offices, according to CBRE. John Burleson and Charlie Coyne of CBRE will market the property on behalf of Centerpoint Investments, part of the Ashmark Group behind the Ashby Village community.
While no new businesses have been announced, the company expects to deliver the new development in 2027.
“We are very excited to work with the City of Sanford and CBRE to create an exceptional and vibrant retail and commercial destination for the growing Sanford community,” said Anil Chandarana, managing partner of Centerpoint Investments.
Ashby Village was first announced in March 2022 and will feature 250 single-family homes, 200 townhomes and 350 apartments, according to the initial plans provided to the city. The community’s main entrance will be along South Horner Boulevard, but will ultimately connect to Lee County Athletic Park, expected to open later this summer or fall.

directly off the highway.. how nice..
This will give our politicians even more of our money in taxes that us retired folks can not afford!
You can always move to Biscoe or Candor
is there anyway to hustle a LONG JOHN SILVER into this?!
We had one next to Hardee’s years ago (where the Truist is now). It closed because of slow business.
I’m aware of that. If I was filthy rich, there are three places I would reopen and keep open, even if just for myself and family. Long John Silvers, A&W Hamburgers and a Rax – just for the BBC (Bacon, Beef and Cheddar).
