Work is be under way on a large apartment complex near the U.S. 421 and N.C. 87 split in the southern part of Sanford.
The complex, which will be known as Truelove Apartments, is being built next to the Lidl grocery store at 3209 N.C. 87. Access to the complex appears to be located off Truelove Street, which intersects N.C. 87 just south the Sanford Ford dealership.
Truelove Apartments, according to a site plan filed with the Sanford-Lee County Planning Department, will consist of seven buildings housing 180 units on 7.23 acres. Plans show 66 one bedroom units, 84 two bedroom units, and 30 three bedroom units.
The complex will include a swimming pool, a dog park, a 3,000 square foot clubhouse, 285 parking spaces (the minimum required), and more than 31,000 square feet of open space. That’s 9.9 percent of the property, nearly twice the 5 percent of open space required by Sanford’s Unified Development Ordinance.
Charlotte-based Mission Properties is the developer.

So we just don’t worry about infrastructure. Already crowded roadways, water sewage . This place is a mess.
Is Sanford the sleepy little village it once was? No, but it is far from the traffic snarled metropolis many seem to think it is. The busiest street will still allow you to go the entire length in about 15-20 minutes during the busiest time of day.
And getting better it seems! Lot less traffic on the past few months it seems.
As long as it’s not a fast food chain, gas station, car wash, or oil/tire change place! Would be nice to see something like Home Depot come to Sanford.
What about something kids can do? We need a skating rink or bowling alley or what about an arcade. We will definitely need more schools built.
Patrick every thing you listed is a private business, the city doesn’t make businesses they just accept & deny business developments & so far no developer has offered to do entertainment. But you could always get friends & family to invest in a bowling alley/ arcade , instead of waiting on a developer to do it lol. Go make the change you want to see
We had a skating rink and a bowling alley once upon a time…
Why doesn’t the city open up the old skating rink for the youth go have some where to go
