The nationwide “No Kings” protest against the Trump administration will have a presence in Sanford, with organizers planning to convene on Saturday the Lee County Courthouse on Horner Boulevard.

The Sanford protest will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse, and those interested in being part of it are encouraged to “bring your signs, your friends, your conscience – and your belief that the United States was never meant to have kings.”

The No Kings events encompass hundreds of protests across the nation, organized by Indivisible, a nationwide progressive nonprofit. The protests coincide with a military parade in Washington, D.C. to mark Flag Day, as well as President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

An invitation from the Lee County Democratic Party to the Sanford protest says the event will include Democrats as well as “people across the political spectrum” demonstrating against “the increasing authoritarian excess and corruption of the Trump administration.”
