The Sanford Spinners got off to a rough start to the 2025 Old North State League season, with a 2-5 record after the season’s first seven games.
Both of the team’s wins have been within their own Piedmont Division, where they have a 2-3 record.
The season opened on May 30 with an away game against the Danville Dairy Daddies, which the Spinners won 8-7. The next day, the Spinners dropped an away game 2-9 to the Sandhills (Pinehurst) Bogeys.
The Spinners’ home opener against the Wake Forest Fungo was held June 2 at Tramway Park adjacent to Southern Lee High School, which the Spinners lost 5-0. They then lost a June 6 non division game that was held at Grace Christian School 6-2 against a scout team, and an away game the next day 6-1 against the Lexington Flying Pigs.
The Spinners then took a home rematch against the Flying Pigs on June 8 with a score of 12-8. They lost to the Dairy Daddies at home on Thursday 4-2.
A June 5 home game against the High Point Hushpuppies was postponed for weather, and the Spinners’ seven games played so far is fewer than several other teams in the division, including Lexington (15), Wake Forest (11) and Danville (10).
The Spinners are on the road this weekend, visiting Wake Forest on Friday, the Raleigh Red Oaks on Saturday and High Point on Sunday.
Four of the team’s next five games after that will be at home. The Spinners host Wake Forest on Monday before visiting Wake Forest again Tuesday. The Spinners then host Lexington on Wednesday, Danville on Thursday and Raleigh on Friday (all home games start at 7 p.m.). View the full schedule here.
