Dandalia Bakery, which reopened in February under new ownership after a two-month hiatus, was vandalized Monday night and will be closed at least a week.

Owner Susan Torlone told the Rant she and her husband arrived at the shop at 6 a.m. this morning and found their front door unlocked. When her husband entered, he heard water running in the back and saw the cash register on the floor, cooler doors propped open and Susan’s office destroyed. They flagged a Sanford Police officer parked nearby to report the vandalism.

According to Susan, whoever entered the store might have had a key, as there was no visible damage to the doors.

“We lost a lot of food products today and a lot of equipment,” Susan said. “We are very saddened and sickened by this.”
