UPDATE: A fourth case was confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
ORIGINAL STORY: Lee County government said Wednesday that the state Department of Health and Human Service’s total of five local Coronavirus cases is incorrect.
“This morning we noticed the number had risen to five; based on information from our Health Department, that is inaccurate,” Jamie Brown, a spokesperson for Lee County said Wednesday. “Lee County remains at three cases – two being monitored, one recovered. We are working with NCDHHS to get this corrected.
On Thursday, Lee County government said that a fourth “local” case announced by NCDHHS is a person who lives out of state but owns property in Lee County. That person has not been in North Carolina at any time recently, Brown said.
