A sixth case of Coronavirus in Lee County was confirmed Friday evening, marking the first time two local cases have been confirmed in the same day.

The news comes from a Lee County government press release hours after a similar release announced a fifth case. From Friday’s second press release:

Lee County Government Health Department received notification this evening, Friday, April 10, 2020 of a sixth county resident that has tested positive for COVID-19.  To maintain patient privacy, no additional information about the individual will be shared by the LCG Health Department.

Health Department officials will conduct a contact tracing process and notify any individuals identified as having had close contact with the patient; the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines close contact as an individual who has been within six feet of the patient for 10 minutes or more.

Lee County’s case count had increased more slowly prior to Friday, with the first case being confirmed on March 20. The second was confirmed March 26, the third March 31, and the fourth on April 8. One of Lee County’s cases has recovered and returned to normal activity; there have been no Lee County deaths.
