A sixth Lee County resident has died from complications related to COVID-19, the local health department reported Monday.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” said Heath Cain, LCG Health Department Director. “This is a stark reminder that COVID-19 continues to endanger the health of our community and we all need to do our part to help slow the spread of the virus.”
To protect the family’s privacy, the health department will not release any additional information. It’s unclear when exactly the death occurred; the state’s COVID-19 dashboard showed six deaths as of Sunday. Lee County recorded its fifth death on Friday.
As of Monday morning, 575 patients in Lee County had tested positive for COVID-19, with 416 having recovered. The Lee County Health Department is expected to release updated numbers later Monday.
