An 18th Lee County resident has died from COVID-19 related complications, the health department announced Wednesday.
It was the second consecutive day with a COVID death in Lee County. Information about the patient was not released to protect privacy.
“This morning we are reminded again that COVID-19 remains a serious threat to public health and safety,” said Lee County Health Director Heath Cain. “We offer our condolences to the family and friends of the individual and ask the community to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
The county’s most recent news release about COVID cases came on Monday, when the county reported confirming 130 new cases during the week previous, bringing the total number of residents who had tested positive to 1,954. As of Wednesday morning, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services COVID dashboard shows that number had risen to 1,971.
