The Sanford Spinners extended their win streak to four Friday night with a late inning 8-7 victory over the Oak City (Raleigh) Gliders.
The teams exchanged the lead multiple times throughout the game, with the Spinners going ahead for good in the eighth inning. Catcher Jonah Ravelo and outfielders Justin Marshall, Noah Kessler, and Max Bowers each contributed doubles.
The Spinners, a collegiate level summer league team in the North Carolina-based Old North State League, are now 4-0 on the 2022 season. The team begins a four game road trip next with contests against the Gliders on Saturday, the Sandhills (Pinehurst) Bogeys on Sunday, the Swepsonville Sweepers on Monday, and the Bogeys again on Tuesday.
The team is back at their home field (Tramway Park next to Southern Lee High School) for a three game road stand against the Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs on Wednesday and Thursday and the Fayetteville Chutes on Friday. All those games have a 7 p.m. start time. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
