The Sanford Spinners bounced back from a 4-3 loss Tuesday to the Sandhills Bogeys with an offensive showing Wednesday night, defeating the Brunswick (Southport) Surfin’ Turfs 17-4 in just seven innings.

Winning pitcher Jacob Cabaniss went four innings, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts and three walks. Relievers Jarrett Orbin, Kendall Vincent and Kaden Sigmon combined for another three innings with three runs allowed, six strikeouts and six walks.

The big show was at the plate, however, as the Spinners combined for 11 hits, including two doubles from second baseman Gage Bibey, a double each from first baseman/third baseman Justin Marshall and outfielder Max Bowers, and a triple from catcher Josh Lallo. The Spinners scored 15 runs in the first three innings, and the game ended after seven.

The Spinners, a collegiate level summer league team in the North Carolina-based Old North State League, have Thursday off and play at home at Tramway Park next to Southern Lee High School again at 7 p.m. Friday against the Fayetteville Chutes. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

After Friday, the Spinners have Saturday off and travel to Southport for a 2 p.m. Sunday game against Brunswick. They have 7 p.m. home games on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday against the Bogeys, the Oak City (Raleigh) Gliders and Brunswick, respectively.
