Sanford police on Thursday announced the arrest of a sixth suspect in connection with the January shooting death of 22-year-old Diamond Richardson.

Robert Dwayne Lee Jr., 21, of Spring Lake faces charges of first degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle in connection with Richardson’s Jan. 11 killing. Lee is in the Lee County Jail without bond while he awaits a first court appearance.

Richardson was a passenger in a car near downtown Sanford in January when she was shot in the head. Police at the time arrested 20-year-old Rayshawn Ahmik Donaldson and a 17-year-old whose name was not released after locating them in a wooded area on Austin Street (a few blocks behind Bojangles and Alpaca restaurants) shortly after the shooting.

Sixteen days later, police announced three additional arrests – Vicente Alvarez, 18, of Harnett County, and Jazmine Joanne Urrutia, 20, of Sanford were arrested after they were located by police and federal marshals at the Days Inn at 1217 N. Horner Blvd, and Emrique Deangelo Lee, 20, of Sanford was charged after being located by federal marshals in Raleigh.

Donaldson and Alvarez are still in custody awaiting trial. The status of the juvenile charged in January is unknown. It was also unclear Thursday whether Robert Lee and Emrique Lee are related.
